Moving with Animals Le Chien est Roi!

Question
Hi I will be moving to France in the next few months from the U.S.A and have a pet cat. Would you be good enough to let me know if quarantine rules apply and what is the procedure.

Answer
Dear Mark,

The law states that you need a health certificate to bring your pet into France. The closest French consulate to you will be able to give you more precise instructions. In reality though, it is rare that anyone is ever asked for any documentation when bringing in a cat or dog from the US. Customs and immigrations inspectors will more likely admire the bête and wave you through. In any case, there are no quarantine laws in France like those for the UK.

Thanks for your question.
