Kids Playgrounds

Question
My wife and I recently visited Paris for a week with our two year old son. Before leaving I tried to find which parks have playgrounds and what equipment they have. No great luck. We ended up staying near the Luxembourg gardens because of the scant information I found. We also spent a majority of our time in the playground there. It is a wonderful playground but does get expensive to use everyday. We were hoping to be able to stroll to other neighborhoods and give him his time to run around.

Is there some way to find out this kind of info.? We want to go back to Paris some time before we send him off to college.

Answer
I love questions about what to do with kids in Paris. Even at two the options are great. Both the Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes are chock-full-of-playgrounds for all ages. Both have zoos and lakes for feeding ducks, canoeing, etc. The Jardin d´Acclimatation is a full day´s worth of fun for toddlers. The labyrinth, the free playground, and the carrousel in the park at Les Halles is a blast for 2 year olds. The playground at the Champs de Mars as well. Perhaps the most fun is Paris´s old-style manèges with horses and cars and flying elephants. These are all over. Place de la Republique, Nation, Châtelet... It seems like the anxiety you had over not finding information nipped your curiosity in the bud. Plus, these days many of the guidebooks do discuss Paris for little ones; in any case, mine does (Paris Inside Out). And, Edward, if you wait till college to bring Junior back to Paris, you´ll need to ask a new question!
