The métro is easy to use, once you´ve mastered the symbols employed to indicate exits, transfers, and train directions.
First of all, métro lines are named after their end points, i.e. the Porte de Clignancourt line is called Direction Porte de Clignancourt; and the same line traveling in the opposite direction is called Direction Porte d´Orléans. Naturally, it serves all the stations in between.
Signs indicating direction are white. For transferring from one line to another, orange signs on the quai (platform) marked correspondance indicate the path to other quais and other directions. You can usually switch to a métro heading the opposite direction for free, though in some smaller stations there are separate turnstiles.
